Five and 1/4 inches of rain so far since Thursday morning, and it’s still falling.  I think we’re in a fair way to make up the big precipitation deficit of this summer.

The birds are quiet, except for the swarms of BCCs, etc., at the feeder. I hope the migrants will poke their beaks out as the weather clears. Big sighting so far: American Woodcock bobbing down the road, doing her impression of a wind-stirred leaf. I don’t often see Woodcocks in the open, but this one was right where we walk in the spring to hear the guys put on their show.

1 new to this list.
